How does it work/the approach here

The approach to counselling at Edenville is a practical one, which sets out to understand a person’s experience and how that in turn is impacting on their life at present.  An integrative approach drawn from different modalities; the emphasis here is on how a person got to where they are, how they feel about this and where they would like to go in the future.  If you wish to find our more about the theory behind the approach you can call to find out or read on here.     Read More...

What happens at the first session?

Normally Edenville will meet with someone for a 20-30 minute free consultation, which gives the client an opportunity to meet up and see if they feel comfortable with the approach and the therapist.   At this consultation the client has a chance to talk about where they see counselling having an impact for them in their lives.    An agreed appointment time is then confirmed.

What happens if I don’t like it after the first session?

If you find it is not what you hoped it would be there is no obligation to return to therapy. Edenville does not expect a client to remain in therapy if they do not think it is for them.

Will Edenville Counselling and Psychotherapy tell me what to do?

Edenville Counselling and Psychotherapy attempts to work with the client to find their own answers as to what is going on in their lives and therefore does not offer advice to the client. Emphasis is on the client coming up with their own unique way of coping which can then continue developing.
